| | Ron Laughton, the winemaker at Jasper Hill, aims to make great wine, with the preservation of nature's flavours, complexities and balance. His approach to winemaking is by minimal intervention in their vineyards - Georigias Paddock and Emilys Paddock - and in the cellar, allow the individual vineyard's terroir or sense of place to express itself.
Jasper Hill wines are produced entirely on the estate using organic biodynamic principles. Jasper Hill produce their own organic compost and have never used synthetic chemicals on either the vines or the soils since the vineyards were planted in 1975.
Their wines are very popular and will be largely responsible for bringing fame to what many believe will become one of Australia’s classic wine regions. Jasper Hills Shiraz, Cabernet Franc and Riesling are said to be simply superb.
